Our wool blankets are unique & full of character
We produce our wool blankets entirely in Austria – here at our loden mill in Ramsau am Dachstein. They are made from 100 % virgin wool, a renewable raw material. The wool is shorn from live sheep and is non-mulesed. In our production, we use traditional methods that have been practised at our loden mill for generations.
What makes our loden blankets so special?
Loden blankets have been produced at the Lodenwalke Ramsau for almost 600 years, giving us centuries of experience to draw on. Our loden blankets have stood the test of time and are still brushed with natural teasels today. This process is particularly gentle on the wool and gives the blankets their wonderfully soft and fluffy feel. Our wool blankets are made using a specially developed virgin wool blend, combining different types of wool. This makes the blankets durable, soft and comfortable to the touch. For our loden blankets, we use exclusively 100 % virgin sheep’s wool from non-mulesed sheep.
Where are the wool blankets made?
Our wool blankets are made here at our loden mill in Ramsau am Dachstein. They are produced entirely on our premises in a series of individual production steps. We also generate the electricity used in production with our own hydroelectric power plants.Our wool blankets only leave our premises when they are purchased by our customers. Virgin wool is a natural high-tech fibre and a renewable raw material. Thanks to its structure and natural lanolin content (wool grease), virgin wool is breathable, temperature-regulating, odour-resistant, water-repellent, soft against the skin and quiet to wear.
