Our responsibility
We work fairly, regionally and sustainably towards people, animals and nature.
Sustainability is part of our everyday life and is our responsibility towards future generations.
Sustainability is part of our everyday life and is our responsibility towards future generations.
For good reason, it has always been called "wear healthy". What was once said intuitively and based on experience
is now scientifically confimed: wear healthy, stay healthy!

FAIR
REGIONAL
SUSTAINABLE
Fair fashion, not fast fashion
We don't believe in disposable clothing and have always produced slow fashion instead of fast fashion that will soon be unwearable. When you buy a piece from Lodenwalker Ramsau, you purchase a counterpart to industrial mass-produced goods.
Social responsibility
Our responsibility towards employees, suppliers, customers, the environment and future generations requires us to use our resources honestly and responsibly. It is very important to us to impart knowledge about production. That is why we invite our customers to visit the factory free of charge.
Employees as a pillar
Our employees are the most important pillar for us. We have been a family-run company for many generations. This applies not only to us as the Steiner family. The parents and great-grandparents of many of our employees have worked here. This keeps the knowledge alive today and ensures the continued existence of our company.
100% made in Austria
From the wool to the finished garment, everything comes from a single source. First the loden is produced, then the garments are made from it in our own tailoring workshops. We produce 100% in Austria, even 100% in Styria.
Without detours
The entire collection is designed and produced locally in Ramsau am Dachstein and in our tailoring shop in Wildon/Styria. This saves long transport routes and we also fulfil the high sustainability standards we have set ourselves. Our commitment to regionality and sustainability is evident in every step of production.
Regionally produced
We have been producing Loden in the same place for almost 600 years - in Ramsau/Rössing. It goes without saying that we are deeply rooted in this region and have a strong connection to the local people. Every single one of our fabrics is produced in our factory in a holistic process from the raw wool to the finished loden with great care and appreciation.
Natural resources since 1434
Whilst companies around the world are striving for sustainability, for us it has always been a necessity and not just an empty phrase. Since 1434, Lodenwalke Ramsau has been working with what nature has to offer - wool, water and air.
Renewable raw material: wool
Then as now, our loden is made from 100% new wool. New wool is an unsurpassed natural high-tech fibre. We only process new wool from shorn sheep. It is a renewable raw material and also biodegradable. It goes without saying that we only use non-mulesing wool.
100% green electricity & sustainability
Hydropower has always driven the machines at Lodenwalke. Initially it was direct hydroelectric power, but since 1940 it has been our own Silberkar and Ramsau stream dams. So we are completely self-sufficient in energy. Furthermore, our loden is dried in the open air according to old tradition. This protects both the wool and the environment.
We do not practise greenwashing,
Sustainability is a necessity for us and has been with us for centuries.
