Merino . Shirts . Care
Caring for Merino Shirts & Accessories Made from New Wool Is Simple and Effortless.
Air
the Merino shirt to stay fresh.
Merino shirts are easy to care for and rarely need washing. We recommend airing your merino wool shirt regularly – either on a clothes hanger or a drying rack. This naturally eliminates odours and keeps the merino shirt fresh, beautiful, and functional for longer. As a result, it can be worn multiple times and go quite some time without washing.
Hand Wash
with mild detergent or curd soap.
For merino shirts, we recommend hand washing, as they are made from an especially fine knit and this is the gentlest way to care for them. The best method is to wash the Merino shirts in a bowl or sink by gently pressing them in lukewarm water with a mild detergent or curd soap, then rinsing with water at the same temperature. It is imortant to avoid sudden temperature changes, as Merino wool may shrink. Afer washing, the shirt should be gently pressed to remove excess water and dried flat on a drying rack. If hung up on a hanger while wet, it may easily stretch in length.
Machine Wash
with caution on a wool cycle.
Merino shirts can be machine washed; however, as the fine knit is very delicate, this should only be done using a gentle wool cycle and inside a laundry bag. We recommend using a mild detergent or a special wool detergent. Make sure that no items with zips, Velcro, or similar fastenings are washed together with the shirts, as these could cause damage. Nevertheless, we recommend gentle hand washing, as it is particularly kind to the wool and helps to extend the lifespan of the shirts.
Dry
in the air, not in the dryer.
Merino shirts should never be tumble dried! After washing, shake the merino wool shirt gently and lay it flat on a drying rack. Do not hang a merino shirt on a hanger while it is still completely wet (after hand washing), as this may cause it to lose its shape and stretch in length. Once it contains only a small amount of moisture after machine washing or spinning, it can also be dried on a hanger.
Store
with vinegar water & scents.
A few simple tips can help preserve the quality of your merino shirt during storage. After wearing, it should always be thoroughly aired so that it is ready for its next use. Before long-term storage, make sure the shirt is cleaned before placing it in the wardrobe. For additional protection, natural scented sachets with lavendar or cedarwood can be placed in the wardrobe – these also help to prevent potential moth infestations. For longer storage, keeping the shirt in an airtight box is also recommended.
As needed and according to your preference. If the Merino wool shirt is aired regularly and shows no stains, it is usually sufficient to wash it only after several wears.
A mild detergent, a wool detergent or soap (such as curd soap) are suitable for caring for Merino wool.
In this case, the shirt has unfortunately been washed incorrectly, most likely too hot. Sadly, nothing can be done to reverse it. We recommend hand washing with lukewarm water and rinsing at the same temperature.
Merino wool, including merino shirts can become static when the air in the room is too dry – most often in winter. Anyone with long hair will be familiar with this problem. Simply hang the merino shirt in the bathroom during a hot shower or leave it outside overnight in the fresh air. This way, the wool fibres absorb moisture and the problem should be solved.
We are able to repair moth holes (within certain limits). Please feel free to contact us by phone for details. Kindly note that we only offer repairs for poducts made by us and provided to us in a cleaned condition.
If a merino shirt is not worn for a longer period, it should first be thoroughly aired and cleaned. This can be done, for example, with a light vinegar-water solution: mix lukewarm water with a good splash of ordinary white household vinegar. Afterwards, store the merino shirt, for example, in an airtight box. Additional protection is provied by a scented sachet, such as lavender or cedarwood (both rich in essential oils).
Our merino shirts are made from very finely knitted merino wool. This makes them exceptionally comfortable to wear, but also more delicate and prone to damage. Small holes can be repaired by us, but if left too long and the holes become too large, there is unfortunately little we can do. We only carry out repairs on clean garments and exclusively on merino shirts produced by us.
